Design & Built
My first impression of the laptop is pretty impressive. It is made up of hard plastic and is neither too thin nor too thick, hence having the perfect feel of a laptop.
Like other laptops, it also has a rectangular shape with rounded corners and a silver lid with its logo in one corner.
The inner build of the laptop is also pretty good. Around its low-resolution display, thick bezels are integrated. The Deck of the device however has a brushed metal finish, giving it a look of aluminum and providing it a touch of elegance.
The keyboards have a dark gray color that provides a great contrast against the silver-ish color of the laptop.
It has a flexible hinge and can rotate up to 180 degrees, making it shareable with the others around you or for adjusting the angle while you play games or surf the internet.
Compared to other laptops at similar prices, this has a slightly more premium feel and solid look. It weighs around 2 kg, so it is kind of heavy, but not too heavy if you want to carry it around.
Overall the design is simple and minimal and does not carry any uniqueness, but if you love the simple design of the laptop you might like it.
Screen Display
It has a full screen of 15.6 inches 720p display, but it is not HD. It has a low-resolution TN panel and does not provide sharpness and clarity to the visuals.
Compared to other laptops with a similar price range, some of them do offer full HD features, so its display quality does not meet par.
Though it does have an anti-glare coating on the screen, so it helps eliminate reflections. So as long as the viewing angle is at an optimal level, it is a suitable choice for a sub-HD quality laptop.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard of this laptop is smooth and easy to type on. If you want to use it for an extended period it is a good choice as the keys are well-spaced and have a good grip, so it is quite comfortable.
The arrow keys are placed at a convenient reach, and it has a number pad that is included on the right which is really nice touch.
The keys of the keyboard have a short travel distance and clear pressure point, which helps in typing fast and accurately.
The touchpad has a decent size and is slightly offset to the left side of the laptop for easy usage. Its color is similar to the rest of the device.
It is easy to use, a well-designed touchpad that has good gesture control and precise inputs. Therefore, the keyboards and touchpads are reliable and user-friendly.
Connectivity
It comes with several connectivity options including USB 3.1 port, USB 2.0 input, HDMI RJ45 internet port, and a headphone and mic combo Jack. Though, on the other side of it, you get a DVD drive and some general SD and charging ports.
The DVD drive option might be a slightly out-of-date option as people barely use DVD is nowadays, but the ones who still use the CDs can utilize this feature of this laptop.
It also has a four-in-one card reader which helps in easily transferring photos and media from an SD card, and you do need not to use a dongle for it.
It has a hard drive of 1 TB 5400 RPM. The storage is great, but if you want to extend the storage, you can configure the system to include it in SSD when you order the product.
Compared to other Chromebooks in a similar price range, this feature to extend the storage is flexible and great.
Performance
The performance of this laptop is average. If you are browsing or using email it works well but if you want to use it for some demanding and heavy activities it may slow down or hang a lot.
Its hard drive is slow compared to other budget-friendly laptops like Aspire e15, therefore giving a poor performance in video playing and gaming and okay-ish performance in other tasks like browsing.
It is not an ideal laptop for gamers as its graphic performance is not suitable for high-end modern games. Even on medium settings, you may not experience good gameplay.
So overall, the performance of this laptop in this budget is average or lower than average.
Battery Life
Compared to other budget-friendly laptops like Asus 2 in 1 q535, the battery life of this model is low. While other laptops last for 8 to 10 hours, the Lenovo IdeaPad 330 15 only lasts for 5 to 6 hours after continuous browsing or surfing.
The average battery life of any laptop is around 7 to 8 hours, so this laptop fails to provide the optimal battery capacity.
If you are using the laptop for an extended period of time, you need to be near an outlet to charge this device.
Conclusion
Though it does have some good features like a solid design, a good keyboard, a large display, and an affordable price range, you cannot overlook the factors like low battery life, average performance, and display quality.
It might be a decent choice if you are tight on budget but if you have a little money to spend you can go for better alternatives like Asus 2 in 1q 535 or Razor blade 15 which offers better performance and longer battery life.
You might opt for this laptop if you are very low on budget and want a decent performing laptop, but if you want to have a budget-friendly laptop that has some great performance as well you can choose from Lenovo IdeaPad 720s-15 or Lenovo flex 14 81SS0005US.
